One thing I've learnt about myself. I give in easily to temptation. I have several petty addictions, internet and coca cola at the top of the list, and I struggle with the concept of discipline, despite usually being quite agreeable, because I feel most things in any well-functioning society are accepted and must be accepted with only the most superficial of explanations. I am a wicked procrastinator. I feel as though I base my humanity in my heavily-occurring emotions, and I am increasingly aware of how rare such people seem to be becoming. However, I am overwhelmingly perceived as a cold person, and I am conscious of the fact that I tend to keep it all within myself. I believe that a life lived to the fullest is a life of extreme emotional perception and expression. You can learn just as much from the deepest misery as you can the greatest happiness. People think I've lost my sense of humour. People think they know me better than I know myself. People think they know what they're doing. People think they have it all under control. People forget that losing control might be the meaning of it all; how do you learn anything when you impose yourself on everything? I believe that everything in our society can be simplified to notions of power. Everything has a motive of power behind it in some form, and that power is almost always selfishly manifested. Love, as I see it manifested in many people, translates as a shockingly selfish act. I don't pretend to know anything, but to go on my gut instinct, it's simply unbelievable. I don't like talking about myself but sometimes I feel it's the only thing I know enough about to talk about. The plan was for tumblr to be a catharsis of sorts but it turns out to very rarely be the case. I don't pretend to have the ability to fully define beauty, or love, or most of anything else, although I spend most of my time trying. There is nothing wrong with trying as long as you have accepted that succeeding is often not the point, or that success may only be something you know in retrospect, or not at all if only for someone who succeeds you. The two things I probably value above all other things are the ability to express and perceive emotions, and minds that are as open as possible to such perception and expression. I often wonder just who's on my "side" anymore. My biggest weakness might just be my idealism, which at times renders me blindfolded in the face of my surroundings. It might also be my biggest strength. At this point I honestly cannot say. Actually, don't be surprised if I disagree with everything I've just written by tomorrow, or regret it.
